Proudly supporting Superior Fabrication Ltd C ovid-19 has thrown curveballs at many businesses and it’s been the ability to quickly pivot that has proved the game changer. Hamilton based Superior Fabrication had built its business on manufacturing bespoke items for interiors made from a variety of metals with the mainstay of business in the commercial sector, particularly hospitality and retail. Now that these industries have suddenly slowed down Superior Fabrication has turned its attentions to the residential market, offer - ing bespoke metal items to solve frustrations people might have with their current interior or to provide a unique point of difference to a home. “People are spending more time at home since Covid-19 hit and are increasingly looking at ways to improve their interiors to make their home more enjoyable to live in. That’s where we can help,” says Superior Fabrication owner Tony Gibbs. Based in Te Rapa, Tony and his team of skilled fabricators can make anything from mirror frames to chairs, balustrades and any other metalwork found in and around the home. “We can help create a whole variety of solutions, whether it be a handrail for a front porch, a gate for the side of a house or even a pergola to spruce up the outdoors. We dis- cuss, design and fabricate the perfect solution to the client’s idea,” says Tony. It is the same kind of innovation and ability to spot market opportunities the company has been established on. Tony’s journey as an entrepreneur began when he started Superior Fabrication after a chance conversation with a friend at the gym, which identified a gap in the market for high quality metalwork for interior fit-outs deliv - ered and turned around at a good price. By the next afternoon he had his first order and Superior Fabrication has since built a reputation for providing product for some significant brands including Ben & Jerry’s and Westfield Newmarket. Demonstrating the company’s versatility, the Ben & Jerry project saw the team manufac - ture metalwork for framing, copper in a sign, copper cladding for the front of the display, tables and small steel and glass cabinets. For these types of projects Superior Fabri- cation generally works for commercial fit-out contractors which value the company’s ability to provide a holistic range of metalwork, tai- lored to their needs. “We can often eliminate the need to involve several different fabrication companies to complete the project. “With our quick turnaround times, high level of quality and competitive pricing, we do our absolute best to meet the three intangible contenders of fabrication – speed, quality and price,” says Tony. He says that Superior Fabrication is also in- vestigating the possibility of applying its skills to other industrie such as mari e, automo- tive, food and agriculture. And it is when Tony is out and about and sees some of his compa- ny’s workmanship that it is all worth while. “Seeing the products we make and the val- ue they add to an i teri r is very rewa ding.” Based in Te Rapa, Superior Fabrication is known for its quick turnaround times, high quality workmanship and competitive pricing.
